Geek Fuel {February}

You guys. I’ve been so crazy busy that I -FORGOT- to write about my Geek Fuel box last month. Which is sad because it’s truly an amazing box … especially if you love chimichangas. Sadly, I still haven’t had time to watch Deadpool. I know, it’s terrible. I swear I’m going to make time to go see it. I just… don’t have time to make time to go see it.

The exclusive T-shirt says “I <3 chimichangas” (I’m currently wearing it.) and came wrapped up like a chimichanga – I love that.

The game is Elliot Quest – a fun 8-bit style game that came with a puzzle tin with sour candy in it.

Shiny Winter Hat – which unfortunately won’t be much use to me in Alabama but I love it all the same. I’ve loved Firefly for a long time so I was especially excited to get this. I just need Alabama to get a freak winter storm so I can wear it. (PS it’s 80 degrees today. I don’t think my freak storm is going to happen anytime soon!)

Deadpool Keychain/Pin Badge/Bottle Opener – I got the keychain. He is living on my keyring and it makes me happy every single time I see it.

Geek Fuel Robot magnet – okay. I’ve said this before, I love the Geek Fuel Robot. I think he’s so cute. So, he now lives on my fridge and is holding the latest artwork from my littles.

Retro Magazine variant cover – I love this cover! So, I was definitely excited to add it to my collection.

The Nerdy Fox

Welcome to Things I Love Thursday (TILT) – a weekly roundup of things I’ve found on the internet that I love! Be sure to stop over at Kimi Who and read her post. She’s pretty much the coolest chick and my blog BFF! Just a few reminders – you can write your post on any day, it doesn’t have to be Thursday! We love looking through everyone’s posts and seeing what we’ve missed this week on the internet. Use the hashtag #TILT and tag us (@WhoisKimi and @TheNerdyFoxBlog on Twitter. @KimiWho and @TheNerdyFoxBlog on Instagram)  Make sure you get that button on your post and link up with us! Tag me (@thenerdyfoxblog) in your TILT tweet and I’ll retweet you! (Or share it on Facebook if you tag me!)

So, last week I was supposed to meet up with Kimi. We got sick and had to stay home and it was the worst! I seriously slept for about 20 hours trying to get rid of whatever bug we had. There aren’t words for how terrible it was. Anyway, we have a fancy new header and button! How fun is that?

Things I’m loving this week:

Did you know that this weekend is Pokemon Day? It sure is! The 27th! I’m so stinkin’ excited.

How adorable is this dress?

Or this blanket?

I’ll let you in on a little secret – Hot Topic is having a store-wide sale on POKEMON DAY! Everything online (INCLUDING CLEARANCE!) is going to be an additional 20% off.

I’ll be buying this for sure:

because I obviously -NEED- a Pikachu hoodie. I need it. That’s all there is to it!

If you’re an iPhone user there is an app in the App Store called Pokemon Photo Booth for some added Pokemon fun! Don’t worry fellow Android users, it’s coming soon for us!

And of course there are going to be fun events at participating stores like GameStop and Toys’R’Us. I’m pretty dang excited!

Are you doing anything fun this weekend?

Halloween Recap

You guys should know how much I love Halloween. It’s my favorite. I love dressing up. I love seeing all the little kids dressed up. It’s just so much fun. I wanted to just share some of the pictures of my Halloween. I made my giant mallet – I wanted it to look like I had used it so it looks, I think, distressed. I ordered the rest of my outfit from Amazon.

Trick or Treating hayride. Chanel was a cat and Trowa was a Power Ranger

I was only able to get a couple pictures with my phone. I don’t have any great pictures from Halloween. We were crazy busy that day. I was in a costume contest (I didn’t win… 🙁 They grouped my age category with “group/family costumes” which I think was totally unfair but whatever. It was fun!) and we were at the local fall festival all day and then we went trick or treating that night. It was so much fun.

Anyway, that was our Halloween. What was yours like?

The Nerdy Fox

Remember, remember!
    The fifth of November,
    The Gunpowder treason and plot;
    I know of no reason
    Why the Gunpowder treason
    Should ever be forgot!
    Guy Fawkes and his companions
    Did the scheme contrive,
To blow the King and Parliament
    All up alive.
    Threescore barrels, laid below,
    To prove old England’s overthrow.
But, by God’s providence, him they catch,
With a dark lantern, lighting a match!
    A stick and a stake
    For King James’s sake!
If you won’t give me one,
    I’ll take two,
    The better for me,
    And the worse for you.
A rope, a rope, to hang the Pope,
A penn’orth of cheese to choke him,
A pint of beer to wash it down,
And a jolly good fire to burn him.
Holloa, boys! holloa, boys! make the bells ring!
Holloa, boys! holloa boys! God save the King!
    Hip, hip, hooor-r-r-ray!

Happy Guy Fawkes Day! I always watch V for Vendetta on November the Fifth. Every year. This year is going to be no exception. So of course today’s TILT is going to be all about V for Vendetta. Do you love it as much as I do??

The Nerdy Fox

Ahoy, my lovelies! I have made a few changes to my blog, what do you think? I’m still not done. I’m actually in the middle of writing my own theme… because, I’m insane. Also, because that’s what I do, haha.

So, first up in things I love this week is obviously going to be this:

1200x595

Because it’s adorable and I love it! I was a little worried about the mint fox but, I think it kind of makes more sense when you get to know me.

Next up is this:

One of the driest deserts in the world is currently pink with flowers! You can read about it here.

I had my last cheer practice and woo’d the little girls with my magical camera:

Instax Mini 8

It was kind of funny. They weren’t even sure it was really a picture at first and then when the picture started to show up, they couldn’t handle it. It made me happy (and made me feel old!). Too bad I can’t find the film anywhere around here. I’ve found it one time at my Walmart – It’s not something they regularly stock. 🙁

Geek Fuel {September}

20151014_185706

Hello my lovely Geek Fuel Box! You know how I love and adore Geek Fuel? They’ve been such an amazing company to work with. They’ve featured me, they continue to grow, and they continue to have amazing boxes. September’s box was filled with things that I enjoy. This month included a Star Wars print (YAY FOR ME!), Doctor Who Ice Cube tray, Ares 3 Mission Button, Roche Fusion Game, Nail Wraps, Bob’s Burgers Comic, and a Bounty Hunter Shirt.

20151014_155633

How cute are these?! I’m so excited to use them that I could barely stand waiting to take a picture of them.

20151014_155656

This game is described as a “classic arcade-style space shooter game with a modern touch. If you enjoy explosions, you’ll really, really enjoy this game”   – I haven’t downloaded this game only because it’s Fall Break for the kiddies and I literally have no time for video games right now. It looks like blast though!

20151014_185251

Bob’s Burgers!
20151014_185357

Have you See The Martian yet? I haven’t. I am waiting to read the book before I watch it… Regardless, this pin is amazing and I’m excited to be adding it to my collection.

Overall, I’m pretty dang excited about this box. I love the shirt – follow me on instagram to see it! — and the nail wraps are amazing. The ice cube tray only makes 6 ice cubes at a time but they’re BIG so, it’s pretty awesome. Plus, who doesn’t enjoy finding a little TARDIS in their drink?

Geek Fuel has a fun quiz up right now – Which Star Wars Character Are You?  I got Luke Skywalker “You are headstrong, which leads you to being very courageous. Although you are a bit sensitive, you are always striving to keep the peace.”  Tell me who you got in the comments!

Free Spirit Award

free-spirit-award-depepi.com_-300x258

Jess over at Bookworms In Dresses tagged me in the Free Spirit award. I was tagged in this so long ago. I’m so sorry it’s taken me this long to get around to doing it. This is how the award works:

  • You write about the topic that whoever nominated you gave
  • Put the award somewhere in the post
  • Nominate other bloggers
  • Give your nominees a new topi
  • have loads of fun!

The topic I was given was, “Would you consider yourself a geek girl? What does being a geek girl mean to you? Any advice you’d like to impart on younger just-getting-into-the-fandom geek girls?” Um, awesome, right??

As I sit here, in my Star Wars sweatshirt, watching Harry Potter for the umpteenth time, I’m trying to think of a way to best describe the elusive geek girl. Maybe it’s not that we’re so elusive. We’re common. We’re the girl you sit next to in class, or the girl ordering a PSL at Starbucks. We obsess over the details of our particular brand of geek and that is different for each and every single one of us. We vary on levels of geekiness – some of us are so deep into geekdom that there is no hope of us every getting out (not that we’d want to anyway!) and then there are some that are sitting on the edge, with just our feet in the geek pool. Now me, I’m so far in to the geek world that I don’t even  know what it means to not be a geek. I’m here. My room is covered in Star Wars art, Zelda posters, Megaman posters, Funko POP! figures and of course there are my Batman prints. I’m learning Dothraki…I’m teaching myself to code. I saw LotR:FotR 22 times in theaters. I’ve watched the commentary on every single Lord of the Rings movie and can tell you all about the game of Tig. I can devour a book like it’s the oxygen I breathe.  But, at the end of the day, that’s just me. That’s who I am. If that makes me a geek girl, then that’s what I am. I’ve always tried been authentically myself. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I didn’t realize it wasn’t cool to like the things I was into (remember this article?). I had an amazing group of friends growing up that really pushed me to be myself and we all embraced each other’s quirkiness. I’ve really been so lucky in that regard. I’ve always been able to be myself.

My only advice for girls (and guys!!) coming into the geek world is to embrace it! Embrace it wholeheartedly. You’ll find a family in your fandom. You’ll have a special connection with someone when they say, “Allons-y!” or “Precious”… and you’ll meet some really amazing people. For example, I have three friends that I met on The Barrow Downs (anyone??? For those that don’t know what that even means, it’s a chat room. Specifically a Lord of the Rings chat room. That I spent many hours on.) – I’ve only ever met one of them in person. I’ve known then for over half of my life. ((I was in love with one of them for a long time, but that’s another story entirely)) And I can honestly say that they’re some of my dearest friends. I’m sure that some day we’ll meet up and it’ll be as easy as breathing because we know each other so well. All of that started with a fandom. The point of me telling you this is that fandoms are special and you’ll meet your tribe.

I’m tagging these bloggers specifically, but if you want to write about my topic, please do and send me the link so I can read it!

The topic I’ve chosen for you to write about is this: Everyone is geeky about something. At what point did you realize you were a geek and what fandom brought you into Geekdom? How have you grown and evolved since that point?

Things I Love Thursday

The Nerdy Fox

I skipped last week for a couple of reasons. I had been having an emotional week (more on that later) and just couldn’t bring myself to even do anything other than making it through the day in one piece. This week is already better than last week. I feel like I’ve made some progress (unless we’re talking about cheer & mean moms and then, I haven’t made any progress. Again, more on that later.) in my life and well, here we are! I’m actually getting this scheduled EARLY! I know, can you believe it?! I can’t. It’s like I’m trying really hard to get back into blogging again. 😉

Anyway! Links I love this week –

Bookworms in Dresses nominated me for the Free Spirit award – Free Spirit Award  – I’m looking forward to answering her questions and nominating some people!

Kimi Who spent the day at the aquarium with her daughter – The Aquarium: A Day With My Daughter – Now, if you didn’t know, I’m obsessed with Kimi and I’m pretty sure if we lived in the same state we’d be BFFs. I’m not even joking. We’re friends on Facebook and I know a lot more about her daily life that she posts on her blog. I’m so glad she got to spend some time with her beautiful daughter! It makes my heart happy.

The Dainty Squid – Bike Style: Good Vibes Only – I love the Dainty Squid. She’s what inspired me to be a blogger. I would love to be as big as her someday. (Life goals!) Blogging is hard, especially when you’re an awkward little things living in Oxford, Alabama. But she’s the cute, spunky, blogger with such an amazing style.

Things I Love This Week –

Infiniti Pro by Conair Curl Secret

I’ve been OBSESSED with this Curl Secret by Infiniti. I’ve been wearing my hair curly everyday since I got it. It’s seriously the best thing I’ve ever invested in.

Zoya Nail Polish Flair Fall 2015 Collection

I’m currently dreaming of this collection. Zoya polish is amazing, if you’ve never used it, you should! It lasts forever and is such a high quality.

The Martian: A Novel

I’m adding this book to the long list of books I want to read! Have you read it?

Geek Fuel {August}

I know I said I was going to be more actively blogging… but life keeps getting in the way! Cheer has been taking over my life along with moving rooms around and changing things drastically in the house. It’s been crazy. That’s why it’s September 16th and I’m just getting around to posting about August’s Geek Fuel.

20150916_101519

August had an exclusive Wolverine or Spiderman item – and I happened to get Wolverine. I’m super excited about that. I love Wolverine. The book is called, “The World According to Wolverine” and I plan on doing a more in-depth review of it because it’s AMAZING. Stay tuned!

20150916_104312

I also got a Pocket Pop – Jake. Now, I have to admit something to you guys, and it might be nerd blasphemy, I have NEVER seen Adventure Time other than the time that my 8 year old tried to watch it and I said, “No freaking way!” and then dealt with the eye rolling and drama that is an 8 year old girl. I am not a huge tv watcher nor am I big into a lot of the new cartoons. Fortunately, I am keeping this for a birthday present for someone that actually enjoys Adventure Time.

20150916_104212

TMNT Lollipop – This isn’t pictured. I ate it. No regrets.

Nuka Cola Currency – Is anyone else excited about Fallout? I am. This is a really awesome magnet that I am super obsessed with. It actually just makes me want to make a Fallout cosplay so I can some how incorporate Nuka Cola currency into it.

Aaru’s Awakening – Guys. This came with those snap fireworks. How cool is that? I’m sorry it’s a teleportation charge. 😉 Aaru’s Awakening is a 2D action game available on steam. It’s pretty!

20150916_104332

Chimichanga Exclusive Tshirt – I have to be honest here, Deadpool is one of my favorites. He’s hilarious. I think because of the people that cosplay him, I love him even more.

This month is going to have a licensed Doctor Who item —- Hopefully they send me Nine or Ten. Or Rose. Or the Tardis. Or Jack. I’d be happy with any or all of the above.
