The Nerdy Fox

This week I’m going to write about what I’m thankful for in a short and sweet little post.

I’m thankful for:

  • My Family – most of all my children. It might be the hardest thing I’ve ever done but each and every day, I’m thankful that they’re mine.
  • The chance to be around my family. For about 6 or so years, I didn’t live by my parents. It was really hard and I’m glad that I get to be close to them now.
  • My new friends. I hated Alabama for a long time. I’ve made some really amazing friends and that’s made a world of difference. I actually enjoy being here.
  • I’m thankful that I get to write and pursue my dreams. I have an etsy shop that is doing amazingly well, I have a blog that is doing great. These are things that I never thought I would accomplish simply because I’ve never been given the opportunity to actually pursue those dreams. I still want to write a book, and maybe someday I will. But for now, I have my blog and that’s more than enough. I always have wanted to make soap and have a shop with my mom. We’re half way there. Maybe someday we’ll be able to actually have a store front that it just filled with our soaps and bath products. But for now we have etsy and local markets and we’re doing so well. So I’m thankful and happy.
  • I’m thankful for my reader. Yes, all of them… even the ones that leave me mean comments. I read every single comment I get. I know who my regular readers are and I know who my trolls are. I’m thankful that I’m at a point in blogging where it doesn’t upset me as much to get a mean comment. I’m also thankful that despite the mean comments I’m flooded with nice things by my regular readers! Seriously, without you guys, my blog would be nothing. I’m planning on writing a lot more. Things in my life have calmed down. You’re awesome and I love you!
  • I’m thankful for Social Media. I know, crazy, huh? I love instagram. I don’t know what I’d do without it. Plus, I’ve met some really awesome people because of social media. So, yay!

That’s my short and sweet list. You can add your thankful list OR your TILT post below!

My Etsy Shop is having a black friday sale. You can stop by and look around, if you’re wanting to try natural, homemade soaps!

Geek Fuel Review {November}

First of all, pat on the back to me for getting this done before December! Seriously, has that ever happened? I don’t think it has.

gfmlogo

This month’s box had:

  • An exclusive T-Shirt
  • Pac-Man Salt and Pepper Shakers
  • Ghostbusters Playing Cards
  • War Never Changes Propaganda Poster
  • How Games are Made – Mini Book
  • Defense Grid 2 downloadable game
  • Security Key Card from Fallout
  • Mocking Jay Sticker

I don’t think I was supposed to get two stickers…. But, hey! I’m not complaining!

How cute are these?! I can’t wait to use them! They also had a fun little interactive Fallout Vault Giveaway. They sent out Vault-Tec cards with a code to enter on the website. My access was denied. 🙁 But! There was another way to enter to win the Xbox One 1tb Fallout 4 bundle!  Click Here to enter  — I mean, I wouldn’t be mad if I won an Xbone! Right??

[Tweet “Enter to win an Xb1 w/ Fallout 4 from Geek Fuel here https://wn.nr/7pZ2h”]

My favorites this month:

  • Pac-Man Salt and Pepper Shaker
  • Defense Grid 2 (I love me some tower defense games!)

The Nerdy Fox

We’re going to just jump right into things I love this week because I’m tired and grumpy and I stayed up way too late talking on the phone and then I had children waking me up a bunch of times last night. *grumpy mama*

So, it’s no secret that I love and adore Star Wars. This skirt is my dream skirt. Fun fact about Star Wars Light Sabers, did you know that Samuel L. Jackson wanted to be able to find himself in the movie easily so he requested to have a purple light saber. Which, I think, is hilarious and awesome.

In keeping with my Star Wars obsessed theme… Look at this sweater! EEK! I need it so much! Thank you Target for being so nerdy and selling the perfect sweater. Also, I recently got a Target Red Card — the debit card. So, I still am getting 5% off my total purchase. I really am obsessed with Target.
Saber Every Drop Mug

How adorable is this mug? I think I just need to see the new Star Wars movie like, right now.

For those bloggers still trying to figure out how make money with their blog (aren’t we all?) head over to Kimi Who for another great post on affiliate links! I personally use shareasale, target, cj affiliate, and Affiliate Window for my affiliate links. She does such a great job explain how to use them to your advantage.

Blogger of the Week

Hi there! I am a blogging student who lives in Vancouver, BC with her boyfriend and her cat, Littlefoot. I guess I fall under the lifestyle blog category since I like to write about family, travel, product reviews, and so much more!

So, Jessica just started linking up with us and she had the cutest little fox scarf that I, of course, loved! You can find her blog here – Jessica Takes On The World
Stop over and say hey!

The Nerdy Fox

It’s been a pretty active week for me blogging wise. (It’s been kind of emotional for me, too. But, more on that in another post.) The new patch for FFXIV came out and I’ve been spending my evenings playing that. Also, Fallout 4 came out. I haven’t decided if I am going to get it yet or wait for a couple weeks before I get it. Also, there is the issue of Battlefront. Of course I want to play it because, well, Star Wars, but the beta was so… bad. What should I do??

A reader sent this to me and I gotta say… they nailed it. Especially the teabagging Halo player. I lost it.

November is my favorite month. Because, No Shave November. If you’re unaware of my love of beards, we should talk. I love beards. And I found this great hoodie that I think is relevant for No Shave November. (Call me when you’re between Sea Captainly and Lumberjackly.)

Got One Friend in My Pocket Bag in Fox
  – I found this the other day and am in LOVE with it. Foxes! I love them!

You’re a Real Life-Saber Hoodie
 – The back of this hoodie has the classic A New Hope movie poster. Which I, of course, love.
Star Wars Yoda Yoga Mat

Star Wars Yoda Yoga Mat
 — Did you guys know that I love yoga? So Yoda + yoga = my favorites.

Blogger of the Week

My pick from last week is Kimi – She always has amazing posts and I’m going to show case some of them in just a minute. She really is my blog BFF and if we lived closer, I’m pretty sure we would be real life BFFs. She is a fantastic writer and I’ve always loved her bloggy. I have nail envy when she posts pictures of how pretty her nails are. I want to hang out with her and love her kitty cats. (She also has a super adorable friend that I kind of have a crush on.)  What? Anyway, here are some of my favorite posts from her –

Happy Stitch

Do you cross stitch? Have you seen this great shop? Happy Stitch is both a geeky gamer and a cat lover. (Seriously. Right up my alley!) Her etsy shop is filled with cute gamer related cross stitch patterns. I have a confession – I’ve never done any kind of cross stitch. But, I do perler bead. Same thing, right? Maria sent me a couple patterns to try out in perler beads. Of course, I couldn’t wait to try this cute Chibi Dovahkiin!

I’m currently working on it and will post pictures of it when it’s all done. It’s going to be SO cute!

Here are some of my personal favorites from her shop:

HTML Welcome

Health is red

Keep Calm and Fus Ro Dah

Vault Boy and Girl Wedding  — This one was designed for Maria’s half-sister’s wedding. It’s her most popular pattern. I can totally see why. What a great gift it would make for  the geeky couple in your life!

She is running a special right now. 10% off any item $3 or more and this code is good until March 2016 — FALLOUT

If you’re interested in cross stitch OR perler beads, she posts freebies on her blog and her twitter.

Maria is currently designing a Chibi series of video game protagonists. She has GTA V, Skyrim, Hitman, Assassin’s Creed, Lara Crost, Chun Li, Fallout Vault Dweller, and has more designs coming. These are all compatible with perler beads as well!

Head over to her shop and favorite it – Happy Stitch

Halloween Recap

You guys should know how much I love Halloween. It’s my favorite. I love dressing up. I love seeing all the little kids dressed up. It’s just so much fun. I wanted to just share some of the pictures of my Halloween. I made my giant mallet – I wanted it to look like I had used it so it looks, I think, distressed. I ordered the rest of my outfit from Amazon.

Trick or Treating hayride. Chanel was a cat and Trowa was a Power Ranger

I was only able to get a couple pictures with my phone. I don’t have any great pictures from Halloween. We were crazy busy that day. I was in a costume contest (I didn’t win… 🙁 They grouped my age category with “group/family costumes” which I think was totally unfair but whatever. It was fun!) and we were at the local fall festival all day and then we went trick or treating that night. It was so much fun.

Anyway, that was our Halloween. What was yours like?

The Nerdy Fox

Remember, remember!
    The fifth of November,
    The Gunpowder treason and plot;
    I know of no reason
    Why the Gunpowder treason
    Should ever be forgot!
    Guy Fawkes and his companions
    Did the scheme contrive,
To blow the King and Parliament
    All up alive.
    Threescore barrels, laid below,
    To prove old England’s overthrow.
But, by God’s providence, him they catch,
With a dark lantern, lighting a match!
    A stick and a stake
    For King James’s sake!
If you won’t give me one,
    I’ll take two,
    The better for me,
    And the worse for you.
A rope, a rope, to hang the Pope,
A penn’orth of cheese to choke him,
A pint of beer to wash it down,
And a jolly good fire to burn him.
Holloa, boys! holloa, boys! make the bells ring!
Holloa, boys! holloa boys! God save the King!
    Hip, hip, hooor-r-r-ray!

Happy Guy Fawkes Day! I always watch V for Vendetta on November the Fifth. Every year. This year is going to be no exception. So of course today’s TILT is going to be all about V for Vendetta. Do you love it as much as I do??

The Nerdy Fox

Ahoy, my lovelies! I have made a few changes to my blog, what do you think? I’m still not done. I’m actually in the middle of writing my own theme… because, I’m insane. Also, because that’s what I do, haha.

So, first up in things I love this week is obviously going to be this:

1200x595

Because it’s adorable and I love it! I was a little worried about the mint fox but, I think it kind of makes more sense when you get to know me.

Next up is this:

One of the driest deserts in the world is currently pink with flowers! You can read about it here.

I had my last cheer practice and woo’d the little girls with my magical camera:

Instax Mini 8

It was kind of funny. They weren’t even sure it was really a picture at first and then when the picture started to show up, they couldn’t handle it. It made me happy (and made me feel old!). Too bad I can’t find the film anywhere around here. I’ve found it one time at my Walmart – It’s not something they regularly stock. 🙁

How Do American’s Celebrate Halloween?

As October comes around, both children and their parents are waiting in anticipation of Halloween festivities. There’s always a lot of fun activities leading up to the holiday, such as coordinating or looking for costumes. Many enjoy a yearly tradition of jack-o-lantern carving, passing out candy, or throwing a spooky Halloween themed party.

All of us have a general idea of what goes on, but do you really know how America as a whole celebrates this holiday? Personal Creations ran a survey and compiled available data on Halloween to find out! Did you 78% of Americans give out candy? Or that 16% of folks plan to reuse last years costume? Read below to see the rest of the stats.

The Nerdy Fox

This week has been crazy – it’s my last week of cheer (YAY! – more on that later — like next week. I have it scheduled.) It’s the first week back at school for the kids after fall break, also another yay. I’ve been dealing with an ex, I’ve had 2 migraines, and I am trying to get in the Halloween spirit. It’s just not happening this year. I also feel like I’m the only person that didn’t even care about the Back to the Future day.

Things I’m loving this week –

Mermaid Leggings

Galaxy leggings

I’m always in search of leggings. That’s nothing new to me. I love leggings. I’ve finally ordered mermaid leggings and galaxy leggings. I’ve been eyeballing them for what seems like forever. Who doesn’t want to have mermaid legs?! I’m patiently waiting for them to arrive so I can post about a million pictures of them on Instagram.

I got my Ipsy bag and my Geek Fuel box this week. My ipsy bag had some amazing nail polish and lipstick in it. My geek fuel box was pretty fab. I’ll do a review of it soon! Do you want a review of the ipsy glam bag, too? Let me know in the comments!
