Y’all know I love coloring, right? Not be a hipster about it or anything, but I enjoyed coloring before adult coloring books were a thing. So when I was contacted by Collen & Jaleh about their coloring book, I was totally all over that! Even more exciting, they’re in Salt Lake City! Yay my home! They emailed me and told me to look at their website and the coloring book is so cute that I almost don’t know what to do with all the cuteness. It’s over thirty pages of geeky designs. YES! I was extremely excited to get my hands on it and start coloring.
Here are some of my favorite designs.
Here you can see that the pages are singles. There isn’t a design on front and back of the pages. I personally love this because, with a little work, you can take out the pages if you’d like and not have to worry about choosing one design over another. I don’t have a need to take out the pages at this point but I like knowing that I can color something without having to worry about what is on the back of the page. There isn’t a perforated edge on the paper so you would have to cut out the design you’d like. Again, I don’t have a need to take out the pages so this doesn’t bother me in the least.
Of course the first one I was going to color was the picture of a Hobbit hole! It’s so cute! The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings was my first geeky love and I felt like it was only appropriate for it to be the first thing that I colored. I then remembered that there isn’t much color inside Bag End – it’s a lot of woodsy colors. I still enjoyed coloring it. 🙂
I know that a lot of people are coloring with markers these days but I’ve always been a fan of colored pencils. I used these colored pencils but I’m a huge prismacolor fan and have had them for a good bit. Really any colored pencils would work. I’m currently coloring space ships because, well, space ships. (Also, because I’m almost done with watching Voyager all the way through and I’m not ready for my space adventures to be over.)
The price of The Happy Geek’s Coloring Book is $9.95 on Amazon and it’s worth every single penny. Who doesn’t want to spend time coloring pictures from their favorite fandom? Seriously, I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun I’m having with it.
