The Nerdy Fox

Hello, 2016! I’ve already had a great start to 2016. I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun this last week has been. I am going over my reader survey (which you can still fill out here!) and I have to tell you guys that I love you all so much! I love reading your comments on the survey. I really got to a point in blogging where I didn’t think that people even enjoyed reading my posts and to find out that there are so many of you that have been sad that I haven’t been posting as much… it really made my day and gave me so much desire to get back into writing. So, I apologize for being MIA and I am really going to get back into it, I swear. PLUS I have exciting things going on in my life again (work, boyfriend, children that say the most amazing things, and of course Star Wars). I’ll be sure to keep my blog more up-to-date and I think now that I’m not in my depressive funk, I think it’ll be easier for me to write.

Let’s get started, shall we?

I love the beginning of the year because it means there are new planners out. I love and adore stationary and planners… so it makes me giddy. I recently picked up this beauty from Target and I’m currently making it mine.

The picture doesn’t do it justice – the light brown henna design is actually copper. It’s beautiful. I’m so in love with it.

Of course because it’s the new year, I also decided I need new pens (to add to my million other pens….) and got these:

Because, I love pens… and pencils. It goes along with my obsession of snail mail. I love writing. Is that a weird thing? Hmm…

The only downfall to the new year so far is that I have a cold sore. I used to get them when I was little, I think. I can’t remember but I haven’t had one …. in as long as I can remember. And my lip is huge and swollen and it’s seriously so unattractive. So, I’m trying this out to see if it’s as magical as it is claiming to be.

It’s supposed to get rid of the cold sore in a single dose. So, I’ll let you know if it really works… I have my doubts. It does feel better so far though, so maybe that’s a good sign? I don’t know. I’m actually just mortified that I have a cold sore. My mom said I used to get them all the time when I was little, whenever the weather would change. I just haven’t had one in about 20 years. (Wow, that makes me feel old saying that.) So, if you need me, I’ll be the one with the paper bag over my face until my hideous cold sore goes away.

What have you done so far this year? What is your favorite part of it being a new year? How many times have you written 2015 instead of 2016?? Let me know in the comments and join us for the link up!

  1. The pen addition is such a good idea! I think if I wrote with those I would be more into it!

    Thanks for sharing!

  2. I still haven’t found a planner I’m in love with for this year, so I’m still using the back pages from my 2015. I’m trying to decide if I want to splurge on a Happy Planner or get a Sugar Paper from Target! Oh the choices, haha. And strangely, I haven’t been finding myself writing 2015, but at the doctor’s office last week I definitely wrote 2014! Apparently I think we’re moving backwards! 🙂

I love a fresh new planner too! And pens…lots of pens! Funny how it so works to get the creativity kicking!

  4. I’ve tried SO many times to go digital with my planner. I have everything I’d need for it but every time I do I miss having an actual planner. I thoroughly enjoy hand writing things and I think that is the main reason I can’t do a digital planner. I do put super important things in my google calendar on my phone so I can have reminders but other than that, I’m old school. I’m the same way with books, I can read a digital book if I have to, but I’m all about having an actual book in my hands! 🙂

  5. I joke about being in a relationship with Target because I’m there so often! I love their office section so much. I can’t get enough of it.

Yeah, I’ve been doing TILT for awhile. I took a break over the summer but then @KimiWho:disqus suggested we do a link up together for it and I started it back up again. it’s a lot of fun! 🙂

Glad to hear you’ve had a good week! I agree that one of the best parts of the new year is buying a new planner. The other best part is the BBC holiday specials on my favorite shows!

  7. Target has some REALLY cute ones right now. It works for my blogging/work needs so that’s all I really care about. My planner is never as cutesy as some of the amazing ones I’ve seen out there but as long as it helps me remember things and it isn’t linked to my phone, I’m happy with it.

  8. I love henna! I wish I knew people who did it around my area, I’d have it on me all the time. We look forward to having you on our linky! 🙂

  9. I have a decent pen obsession myself; those ones look really fun!! But I went 100% digital with my planner last year & have never looked back. I know some people really like having that notebook style in front of them, but I just do better with Google calendar 😉

  10. Oh wow, this brings back memories. I used to do TILT, Things I Love Thursdays, a few years ago but haven’t done one in a long time. I didn’t know anyone did them now! How FUN! What a great planner. Target always has the best planners and journals!

  11. Such a cute planner! I still really need to buy a planner. I opted to get a tablet for Christmas instead and then to spend my money on clothes… so I am still planner-less. I might just pick up up at Target instead of splurging on some other planner options I’ve been eyeing – because yours is so cute!

  12. Great linky I will be bookmarking it and joining. And that planner I love henna designs had one done on my hand in December

  13. Yeah, writing 2015 will be sticking around for awhile over here too haha. Love your new planner, so pretty!

  14. Pretty sure I’ll use *ANY* excuse for new pens. I’ve convinced myself that I don’t need to change planners every six months (usually).

lol @ 2015 instead of 2016, I am so guilty. Sorry about the cold, Happy New Year

  16. Danielle Knapp

New planner + new pens is a must have for the new year 🙂
